The Death of Steve Jobs

6 10 2011

I’m not much of an Apple’s product user but I admit that people all over the world have changed the way they live with lots of advantage from Apple’s product. Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs. The world mourns for you. You’re gone too soon … way too soon.

Nice gesture from Andrew Garfield at Comic Con

25 07 2011

I wish I was at Comic Con’s Sony Panel with the new Spider-Man movie. I think the entire hall was surprised to see that Garfield (the guy, not the cat), the new Peter Parker, was among them all the time. I really like with what he said – “This is the coolest moment of my life”. Class act. Check it out on Yahoo News.

Good bye, Borders

24 07 2011

It’s really sad to see Borders shutting down. I know there are lots of business out there that are closing down but I feel more attached to Borders. Sure, it’s nice to get your books online via Amazon and numerous websites but it’s also a nice change of pace to just stroll down to your bookstore and sit in there for hours.

I hope Borders would make a comeback somehow but I doubt it. This time: Borders. But what next?

Question about “Adware.HBHelper”

7 01 2011

This is not normal stuffs that I would post but I think I’m having adware problems.

Recently I used Super Anti Spyware to scan my computer and it detected “Adware.HBHelper” (or HBIHelper, I guess). I removed it, rebooted it, yet when I ran the program again it still detected this adware. How can I remove it? I did use Malwarebyte Anti-Malware which detected and already deleted it. I only ran it once and hasn’t run it again yet. However, both AVG and Avast Anti-Virus didn’t detect this “Adware.HBHelper”.

How can I delete this “Adware.HBHelper” for good? Anybody has an idea on how to deal with this? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Tron: Legacy – My Take (**Spoilers Alert**)

1 01 2011

After more than a decade, Tron: Legacy, a sequel to groundbreaking Tron is now released.

I just got a chance to watch Tron: Legacy although I can’t watch it in IMAX 3D because I have to take out my reading glasses (I’m shortsighted). But Tron: Legacy 2D is enough me. Tron: Legacy has a really nice visual and special effects to keep you glue to your seats. I think those who don’t know or haven’t watched the original Tron might not enjoy Tron: Legacy as much as those who have. For me, people who grew up in the 1980s will have a blast from watching Tron: Legacy.

It maybe just me but by 3rd act I was a little lost with the plot but it’s still an enjoyable film. But everytime I watched Jeff Bridges (as Kevin Flynn), I couldn’t help but think of him as The Dude more than Flynn himself. The whole movie, for me, has two themes – the relationship between father and son (Kevin and Sam Flynn) and the power struggle of Kevin and CLU. Speaking of CLU, the “de-aging” process that made CLU looked like Jeff Bridges in his 30s looked marvelous although at some shots it looked too obvious that it’s computer generated. Still, good effects though. Another nice touch for Tron: Legacy is the lovely Olivia Wilde – a sight for sore eyes after watching lots of neon-glowing black suits.

Aside from all that I have mentioned, Tron: Legacy is an enjoyable film albeit some plotholes. It has a groundbreaking visual aspect into it. And who isn’t pumped up or got goosebump when “Separate Ways” by Journey was played at the arcade? Flynn Lives!!

Iron Man 2: My Personal Take

3 05 2010

I just had a chance to watch Iron Man 2. Too bad there’s no IMAX theatre in my area but normal theatre will do.

Personally I am satisfied with Iron Man 2. Iron Man 1 was fresh and Iron Man 2 didn’t waste time to retell the story and it continued after the first movie. Without any spoiler, fans of Iron Man will like it. As for casual action fans, they might be skeptical at some point of the movie but I’m sure they will like the film as well.

Robert Downey, Jr. seemed very easy going as Tony Stark. He played the role with such suaveness and slick that made Tony Stark stands out among other graphic novel adaptation. I’m glad that Gwyneth Paltrow and Jon Favreau’s Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan respectively had more roles in the film. All three of them had good chemistry and dynamic that made their relationship in the graphic novel alive in this film.

I really enjoyed Sam Rockwell’s performance as Justin Hammer. I know, I know, the real Hammer is way older but I think director Jon Favreau did the right thing to decrease Hammer’s age to be the same range as Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark. Every scene that has both Stark and Hammer were delightful.

Don Cheadle’s role as James Rhodes was okay for me. He did an adequate job on this one. At first I thought I might have doubt to see him as Rhodes (instead of Terrence Howard). But I was wrong. Cheadle played the role nicely and had a good chemistry with Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark. As for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, personally she left something to be desired. I assume that she might have more role in, if any, the next Iron Man movie.

As for Mickey Rourke, I’m sure he had a blast playing Ivan Vanko’s role in Iron Man 2. His appearance as Vanko in the 1st act was very intimidating.

All in all, I’m satisfied with Iron Man 2 and this movie surely leaves some room for the (I’m very sure there will be) Iron Man 3. And be sure to stay After the credit. You’ll be surprised like I was.

What I’d love to see in Transformers 3

9 07 2009

Okay, so Transformers 2 isn’t what everybody wants it to be. But honestly I enjoyed it very much since I watched it in IMAX and the sights were spectacular, regarding of the story.

As for Transformers 3, I’d love to see some more drama for Autobots. Maybe some romantic side of Optimus Prime with Elita One. But please don’t bring in Rodimus Prime and other G2 characters yet. One of the problems with Transformers 2 is that they have a lot of Autobots and Decepticons to play with. So they need to juggle those characters carefully next time around.

What other Transformers character would you like to see? For me, aside from Elita One, I’d love to see Sunstreaker going into action side by side with Sideswipe. Perhaps Wheeljack and Perceptor. And since we have combiner robots like Devastator, maybe in the next Transformers we can see Superion vs. Bruticus!!

Just a thought :]
