A Glimpse at Windows 7
28 10 2008Folks at BusinessWeek, among other business and technology websites, have a first glimpse of what Windows 7 would look like. For now I think it’s still pretty hard to tell the actual difference between Vista and Windows 7. I’m actually okay with Vista. Perhaps programs that I use don’t require too much power but I actually dislike Internet Explorer. I used to be a big fan of the program but now it’s just full of ads. I’m more like a big fan of Firefox now and Cooliris is awesome!
Take a look at the article on BusinessWeek for more info on Windows 7.

Rotary Style Music Navigation
28 10 2008I found this fascinating design concept from Artcatchr and it’s a, well, rotary style music navigation system designed by Hansoon Jeong. From the looks of it, it functions very close to the navigation system of iPod with touch surface. I’m not exactly sure how this can be portable – in terms of hanging around the neck or carry it around like CD discman. In one of the picture I saw, there’s a logo of Bang & Olufsen. This could perhaps be a conceptual design for B&O portable music player.

Motorola Aura
28 10 2008I found this one on Yahoo! News and looks like Motorola is revealing its high-ended cellphone called Aura. The price tag for this one is $1,999 according to the article. Honestly it’s a little pricey for an okay-looking phone. Well, that maybe just me. But wasn’t there a similar cellphone like this one by Motorola couple of years ago. I’m not even sure if it’s Motorola or not but it’s definitely the same shape, though not as fancy-looking like this one. From the appearance and the specs, the price should be way less than $1,999. Anyhow, take a look.

A Woman Arrested After Killing an Avatar
25 10 2008Wow. This news actually sounds like some TV movies on lazy Sunday afternoon. The news is about a Japanese woman who got arrested after killing her “virtual husband”. It’s an online game actually, called Maplestory. But the interesting this is that, I think, if this woman is capable of killing off her virtual husband’s character, she could have killed a real person. Or is she?? It’s still unclear whether she would be charged with any offence or not.
Interesting food for thought though. Check out the link for more details on BBC.com

The New Guitar Hero Commercial
25 10 2008I just saw this commercial on Yahoo and I’m amazed at one thing. The commercial itself is a bit parody of Risky Business but that’s not my point. My point (and question) is how much Kobe Bryant, Michael Phelps, Tony Hawk and Alex Rodriguez got paid to be in this commercial. My guess is Phelps is the most expensive one. But hey, the commercial got its point across – friends hanging out, playing guitar hero and have a blast. Just curious how many takes they got all the Sliding correct, haha.
Check out the link for the commercial at Yahoo.

“Surprise of a Lifetime” for Terrence Howard
22 10 2008Well, the news has been rumored for a week or so now. With the report of Yahoo Movies News, I guess it’s true. Perhaps the most shocked person is none other than Howard himself. This must feel like a big slap to his face. Don Cheadle is a fine actor but honestly I just don’t see him as War Machine. I’m sure he’ll able to pull the role off but I just don’t see the “James Rhodes” in him.
Why can’t Robert Downey, Jr. or even Jon Favreau himself ask the studio to reconsider? It’s not exactly clear as to why Howard was dropped out of Iron Man 2. I just wish he could still be James Rhodes in Iron Man 2. In my opinion, he basically nailed the part with the look and the physique and I can basically see a chemistry between his character and Tony Stark.
Check out the news for yourself.

iBangle – An iPod-type Concept
21 10 2008Wow, this one is just crazily (is that a word??) awesome design concept for iPod-type product. It’s called iBangle by Gopinath Prasana. I found this one on Artcatchr. At first I thought it was a ring but it’s more like a wristband. Not exactly sure how it would work in terms of bluetooth technology or file- transferring issue. But it is a very nice concept actually. Take a look.
