Olympics Fireworks Faked
12 08 2008
I found this on InformationWeek (http://www.informationweek.com/news/personal_tech/TV_theater/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=210002310) and it turns out that the fireworks for Beijing Olympics opening ceremony were faked. Well, not all of it. Part of the fireworks for the opening ceremony were computer generated in order to avoid, well, putting a helicopter on fire. It’s possible though. Seeing the whole fireworks went up on the sky and if the pilot wasn’t careful enough, that pilot could have been killed. Still, my overall feeling of the entire opening ceremony was spectacular. Aside from the fireworks, the whole ceremony still blew everybody away anyway.

Mirror Television
12 08 2008
Remember the movie “The Sixth Day”? They had a lot of futuristic gadget including a television embedded on a bathroom mirror. I thought it was a little farfetched but I guess I was wrong. The design company in South Korea designs this embedded television in the mirror. And I would say the end products look very nice and chic. Aside from saving space, it makes your houses or offices look very cool. Take a look.

Chinese’s Male Gymnastics Gold Medal
12 08 2008
I got to hand it to the Chinese male gymnastics team. I watched them compete with the American team last night and the competition was really close and intense. Finally the Chinese team won the Gold medal. In my opinion, they really deserve it because they performed very well in almost every element. This year’s Olympic, the Chinese are aiming for Gold.

Olympics Balladeer’s Voice Dubbed
12 08 2008
Actually I’m not surprised by this news. I found this article on the New York Times saying that the young balladeer, Lin Miaoke, who performed for Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, didn’t actually sing. Her voice was dubbed by a seven-year old Yang Peiyi. The music designer for the opening ceremony explained that it’s for the national interest. I would say it was also for the showmanship. People on camera need to look good, right? Well, it might hurt people’s feeling when they know this fact but I’m okay with that. After all, the opening ceremony was a blast and blew everybody all around the world away.
Anyhow, check out the article on the New York Times for more details.
