Cuil

28 07 2008

Cuil (pronounce “cool”) is a new search engine created by, according to the New York Times article, former Google employees Anna Patterson, Tom Costello and other former Google employees. I went over to Cuil website and tried their search engine. Cuil has a potential to be big. It sorts the search result by content so it makes it easier for you to browse for your result. Though it has that potential to be big, I doubt if it would take over Google’s mantle of search engine king. And I wonder if people still use other search engines available aside from Google. Sometimes I use Alta Vista and Yahoo but I mainly use Google when I want to search for something. From the looks of Cuil website now, it still has rooms for development but this website has a potential to hit it big.

The Dark Knight Reigns

28 07 2008

According to the New York Times, The Dark Knight has once again topped the box office chart and broke the record of movie that hit $300 million in its first 10 days of release. According to the article, The Dark Knight has sold $314.2 million domestically. Wow. My prediction: The Dark Knight might not be no.1 at the box office next week but it will remain in the top three. We’ll see.

To me, this is more like Singin’ in the Rain in Hyper mode. Haha.

Jawbone 2 Bluetooth

28 07 2008

Honestly I never use Bluetooth before. I usually see a lot of people using Bluetooth that have similar design. But this Jawbone Bluetooth really stands out. Shape-wise, it might look like other Bluetooth devices but this one is small and very sleek. It also has this feature called Noise Assassin to cut out all the ambience noise in order to make a clear sound. Click on the link for the review of this Jawbone 2 Bluetooth.

Batman Returns Poster

28 07 2008

I came across with old Batman Returns poster on Artcatchr. I can’t remember if this version was released. I remember the one with Batman’s logo on black background and white snow covering the logo but not this version. Still, I think this version, sequel-wise, is better than those that have main stars holding two fingers.

Walking Vehicle

28 07 2008

I’m not sure if this suppose to be real or not. But man, this is sort of look like a vehicle that jumps out from Cadillac & Dinosaurs cartoon back then (am I the only one who can remember that, hehe?). I think it’s from a series called Dinotopia. Go have a look.

Toy Soldiers Typography

Have you ever played with little toy soldiers when you were a kid? I did. But I never made them to make a set of typography like this. Very creative. Take a look.

Did this ever happen in Titanic?

Just curious, did Jack & Rose ever encounter a seagull while they were in their romantic moment? Haha.

Would you count online reading as ‘reading’?

28 07 2008

I found this interesting article on the New York Times website. The article is more like a debate about whether or not online reading should be considered as ‘reading’. Some may only think of reading as to read an actual published material e.g. books, newspapers. Nowadays in the digital age, we have more options for reading e.g. blogs like Technorati, online newspapers like the New York Times that I am reading now, or even Wikipedia. Even the way we read traditional book has changed. Think of Amazon Kindle. Though I myself never use the Kindle device before, but if I’m not mistaken, Kindle users can download books or materials they want to read electronically to their Kindle devices. It w

ould be an interesting picture to have two persons at a table. One reading a traditional book and the other one reading an e-book like Kindle or similar devices.

Quite an interesting article as well as a food for thought. Take a look.

Being a Stormtrooper must be a stressing job. Who knows, you might have a stroke some day. That’s probably why this guy got his blood pressure checked, hehe.
