VVork

At first I really thought this was an actual computer screen. But when you look at the floor, it’s not. And that’s the actual recycle bin, haha. They set the scene quite nice actually. Look realistic.

Neon Works

23 07 2008

At first I’m not sure what this was. But when I looked carefully, I knew it said “Le Laboratoire”. If you look carefully, the word “LAB ART” are brighter than other alphabets. Pretty nice touch.

TiVo + Amazon = Marketers’ Dream

23 07 2008

TiVo

TiVo

I just read an article from New York Times saying that TiVo will introduce the use of Amazon.com online shopping experience with its set-top boxes.

So this is probably how it works: you view your programs on TiVo as usual. Then you might see a product being advertised on shows like The Daily Show and you want to get your hands on that product. Then you use the Amazon.com feature on your TiVo and start shopping for that product. Or you can save that purchase for later and return to The Daily Show viewing pleasure.

That sounds awesome to me, honestly. The concept of integrating media and consumption always intrigue me. Ask yourself this: when you were kids, when you watched Saturday morning cartoons, e.g. M.A.S.K., G.I. Joe, Transformers, and you see toy commercials and you want one. Now we can do that instantly. Of course, it would take Amazon a few days to ship the items to you but you get my point. It sounds similar to Home Shopping Network though. But you don’t have to dial a phone.

One big question here is that the idea of having services like TiVo or similar services, you get to skip the commercials. They better come up with some plans as to how to advertise products properly without having people skip the actual commercials. Product placement, anyone? If done properly, product placement might work? But I’m wondering what if people order movies from Amazon Video on Demand, say Casino Royale, and they want to buy James Bond’s Omega Seamaster Professional, can they simultaneously buy the watch online?

Interesting concept and article nonetheless.

Who should be the villain for the next Batman installment?

23 07 2008

**Major Spoilers Warning**

Now that we have The Joker and Two-Face for The Dark Knight. And I’m pretty sure that no one can top the performance of The Joker set by Heath Ledger. The idea of having The Joker back is out of the picture. So question is: who should be the villain for the next Batman film?

Nolan already set the tone for his Batman movie – a superhero movie that grounded in reality. So the idea of having colorful character run amok might be a bit silly. The way The Dark Knight ends with the opportunity to explore certain storylines from Batman’s arc. Now that Batman is considered as an outlaw. There must be some sort of extreme circumstances that needs Batman to handle so he could redeem himself in the eyes of Gotham citizen.

“Hush” storyline seems like a perfect match. But then again, it involves pretty much all of Batman’s rogue galleries. It would prove impossible to do so. To lay the background for character Thomas Elliot would at least eat up the entire first act. My take is “No Man’s Land”. The way The Dark Knight ends with a note that all of the major crime bosses in Gotham City might be undone as Dent himself turns to Two-Face. “No Man’s Land” seems like the next logical step. Now that Batman is an outlaw and on the run, all the pandemonium can break lose. Within this chaos, there should one or two villains who signify the entire Gotham City’s villains – who dare to fight and defy our Caped Crusader. I’d love to see Bane be THAT villain. Please erase that horrible Bane character from Batman & Robin. The real Bane is a mastermind villain – tactically smart, physically strong, and he broke Batman’s back. Bane can be THE villain that can bring Batman back to his Gotham City’s savior status should he beat Bane.

So what do you guys think? Who should be the villain in the next Batman installment?

Red Table

23 07 2008

Well, at first I thought this is just drops of color red on mid air. But if you look closely, you’ll notice that it’s actually a table. Looks like a bloody table (pun intended, hehe). Wait, is it a table or not? Well, let’s say a semi-table then.

Ironic, isn’t it?

It’s a world of globalization, right? Still, I think it’s kind of ironic when I see this picture.

Bad Typography

I like this kind of poster. It makes you think and look twice just to get the idea. Remember the cover of “Angels & Demons” a while back? The cover that use the same font for the title and you can even read the title as “Angels & Demons” even upside down. That was a neat little trick. Same as this one, though not upside down.

The Girl Makes Soap Bubbles

23 07 2008

Maybe this just but this painting reminds me of Picasso’s cubism movement. The painting itself may not look like cubism per se. But it just gives me that feeling, particularly the left area of the painting. Still, it’s a fine piece of painting that can get your imagination runs wild with the soap bubbles.

Moon Rise

I like how this painting gives the feeling of loneliness but yet calm within the night. It’s called Moon Rise. I found this on Artcatchr. I’m not sure who’s the painter though but I like watercolor. Maybe it’s just me but somehow I think this painting gives me an impression of Edward Hopper’s work – loneliness in the city. Still, this would look smashing on my room’s wall.

Icare Prototype

23 07 2008

Wow, this motorcycle looks like Batpod from The Dark Knight. It’s called Icare. It’s still a prototype though. I’m not sure who manufacture this awesome-looking motorcycle. It reminds me of Batcycle from Batman: The Animated Series back in early 1990s. It looks very sleek and intimidating. I’d love to ride this motorcycle around town just for kick. It would be awesome if there’s a glowing light around the motorcycle. They didn’t say how much this would cost. But from the looks of it, I’d say it’s going to be quite pricey. Take a look.
