Kenny Goldie

21 07 2008

This week I have a chance to look into my internship’s company, For Art’s Sake Media, team biography. One person that stands out is Kenny Goldie. He is our investor for the company. He has a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Indiana University. He co-founded one of the most successful nightclubs in New York called Cain. I just visited the nightclub’s website  and man, this place looks like a riot! It really looks like a fun place to be on Friday or Saturday night. If I’m not mistaken, there’s a plan to expand Cain to London. He also co-founded another nightclub called Goldbar in New York and a hotel called Surf Lodge in the Hamptons.

The point of the story is that he accomplished all this at the age of 27. Just amazing. This is a work of a man with vision who can foresee future and willing to take a risk. Have to look deeper into his works.

iD Gallery

21 07 2008

I came across this article on Artcatchr. It’s called iD Gallery in Shanghai, China. It’s a gallery that encourages young designers to share their ideas to the world and, perhaps, lead them to be designers of the world. I haven’t read through the article thoroughly yet. But from the looks of it, it sounds nice. Wish there’s a gallery like this near my place.

Radiohead – House of Cards

21 07 2008

I just had a chance to watch “House of Cards” music video by Radiohead. It’s … weird. But in a good way. It’s as if I was watching “Videodrome” by David Cronenberg back in the 1980s. It looks very surreal – as if you are watching a video art. I also had a chance to look at the behind the scenes of creating this music video. Just amazing.

By the time I finish looking at this clock and find out what time it is, I would feel dizzy by then, hehe.

Dan Mumford: Gallows ‘In The Belly Of A Shark’

21 07 2008

This “In the Belly of a Shark” picture speaks for itself. It has this feeling of chaos, pandemonium, wrath, and agonizing pain. Jaws, perhaps? Well, I think this is much more than Jaws. If I’m not mistake, at the bottom left corner, that should be a fishing boat. Maybe they got what they asked for – a big fish. A really big one.

Anti-Terrorism Drills in China

21 07 2008

It’s about one month before the whole world will lay eyes on China for the upcoming Olympic Games. So far there has been a series of anti-terrorism drill in China to ensure security for every party in the upcoming Olympic Games. They are throwing everything out to show the world that they are ready. Well, they even have tactical teams on Segway. Take a look.

Faucet Design

21 07 2008

Sometimes I just like to go to any building and see what kind of faucet they have installed. You can practically have any kind of faucet design installed nowadays. Like this one that I found on Artcatchr for example. The faucet itself looks normal. But take a look at the sink. Just beautiful. The sink looks similar to a sea shell. The one thing that I like about this sink is you can see the water gracefully goes down the sink like a waterfall. I’m not sure if this is Kohler or not but it just looks beautiful.

The Dark Knight Smashes Records

21 07 2008

I guess this finally confirms that The Dark Knight is the best Batman installment by far. The Dark Knight broke the 3-day ticket sales records with, according to the New York Times, $155.3 million and kicked Spider-Man 3 opening records (with approximately $151.1 million) out of its number 1 spot. My guess is that is partly because of the IMAX release of The Dark Knight. Unfortunately there’s no IMAX theatre near where I live. So those who saw The Dark Knight in IMAX, consider yourself very fortunate :]

This is just domestic release. Imagine all of the international releases that Warner Bros. will receive in upcoming weeks. Definitely a sign of greenlight for the next Batman movie.

This is such a powerful image. Brilliantly combined. You need to look at the picture at least twice (well, that’s my case anyhow). The image speaks for itself. Take a look.

Bruce Lee

21 07 2008

I usually see pictures of Bruce Lee either in his kung-fu action or his iconic yellow jumpsuit. But I never see him in fashion dresses before. So this picture that I found on Artcatchr is quite interesting. It’s not exactly his photo per se, but more like an artistic rendering of Lee in fashion dresses. He looks very suave but still maintains his usual appearance. Take a look.
